about

It has always amazed me how a flourishing cultural tradition or language can become so obscure in just a few generations. In the quest to learn the languages, songs, and rites of the Algic tribes, I feel I have barely scratched the surface. Often I have thought that these ways may disappear forever, not necessarily due to apathy but because our current technological society tends to overshadow ancient traditions. It is my sincere desire to create music that resonates with this older (and perhaps wiser) part of us that listens to knowledge that is found "on the wind".

lyrics

Laahapalačia, nitaši mačiloθia
Nikwiθeti! Maataši, nipkaleenaape
{In Appalachia, there is where I was born
My sons! Here, we built a fire}

Hey, do you remember words they used to say?
Your ways, will you keep them in your heart to stay?
Listen for the answers on the wind

Hey, do you remember songs they used to sing?
Away, will you let this all just wilt away?
Until there are no words left to say, just keep them alive

’Inoki, kipaapmamaatompwa
Ke’wisiki lenaweewi, aho
{Now, you all keep on praying
You will be strong, it is so}

Hey, do you remember words they used to say?
Your ways, will you keep them in your heart to stay?
Listen for the answers on the wind

Hey, do you remember songs they used to sing?
Away, will you let this all just wilt away?
Until there are no words left to say, just keep them alive
